Sati Shankar

Introduction

Sati Shankar (formerly publishing as Dr. S.S.D. Pandey) is an Indian interdisciplinary scholar, author, and the Founder of the Global Synergetic Foundation. Following an early academic career as an Associate Professor of Economics and authoring works in the social sciences, he shifted his focus in 2004. He dedicated the next two decades to svādhyāya (deep, independent research) at the intersection of Vedic studies, Indian philosophy, the philosophy of science, and the mathematical foundations of knowledge and reality.

His upcoming books and research seek to recover the foundational structures of knowledge from early Vedic sources and bring them into rigorous dialogue with modern science and philosophy.

His interdisciplinary scholarship connects Ṛgvedic cosmology and classical Indian philosophical systems with contemporary frameworks in the foundations of physics, complex systems, consciousness studies, formal mathematics, and artificial intelligence.

His primary textual research is grounded in the Ṛgveda and Brāhmaṇa literature, which he approaches as systematic investigations into cosmic order (Ṛta), energy (Agni), mind (manas), causality, and the ontological structure of reality. His work attends to their conceptual and philosophical dimensions beyond exclusively ritual or mythological readings.

From this foundation, his research examines the emergence of classical Indian philosophical systems—including Sāṁkhya, Vedānta, Nyāya, and Vaiśeṣika—and traces their conceptual continuity with modern scientific and mathematical thought. A defining concern of his research is investigating emergence, process ontology, self-organization, synergetics, causality, and the philosophy of physics, sustained throughout by historical and textual grounding.

His engagement with formal and mathematical frameworks, including topology, category theory, systems theory, and decision sciences, treats these as structural languages for understanding organization, causality, cognition, and the nature of knowledge.

Drawing on his extensive period of svādhyāya, Sati Shankar is currently authoring a series of texts that will be published through the Global Synergetic Foundation (GSFN).

Current book projects and research include Vedic cosmology and process ontology, Agni as a model of cosmic energy, Ṛta and causality, the Vedic foundations of Sāṁkhya, the Vedic origins of Āyurveda, and the relationship between ancient Indian knowledge systems and contemporary scientific paradigms.

Academic Formation

Dr. Pandey holds a Ph.D. in Decision Sciences (Mathematical Economics) and a Master’s degree in Mathematical Methods and Econometrics, both from Banaras Hindu University. He graduated First Class First and was awarded the BHU Gold Medal and the Wagle Gold Medal.

His doctoral research, completed at Banaras Hindu University in 1991, examined Mathematical Control Systems, the Economics of Information, and psycho-physiological behavioural science, with particular focus on decision-making and organizational structures.
